My Friend,
From the time I entered the Naval Academy at age seventeen I have been privileged and honored to serve my country.
Throughout my years of service, I've been faced with challenges where I could have taken the easy way out and given up. But I'm an American and I never give up. Instead, I choose to show courage and stand up and fight for the country I love. Today, I am asking you to stand with me and to fight for our country's future.
Our country faces enormous challenges and our next president must be ready to lead on day one. My lifetime of experience has prepared me to lead our great nation. I'm prepared to bring solutions to our economic challenges, bring our troops home in victory and improve our nation's healthcare system.
Time and time again, my country has saved my life and I owe her more than she has ever owed me. I have chosen to show my gratitude through a life of service to our country and tomorrow, you will have a choice before you.
I humbly ask you to make the choice that will allow me to serve my country a little while longer by casting your vote to elect me as your next President of the United States.
Finally, I ask that you never forget that much has been sacrificed to protect our right to vote. We must never forget those Americans who, with their courage, with their sacrifice, and with their lives, have protected our freedom. It is my great hope that you will exercise your right to vote as an American tomorrow.
I thank you for your kind support, your dedication to our cause, and most importantly I thank you for your vote.
With sincere appreciation,
John McCain

Why Obama Can't Postpone the Debate
The video:
And here's a copy of the email Michelle sent to subscribers on the Obama Website:
[Your Name Here]--
This Friday, we'll reach another milestone in this campaign -- the first debate of the general election, on September 26th at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.
Millions of Americans will tune in to watch Barack debate John McCain about America's foreign policy and our role in the world.
Barack will share his plan to bring the change we need -- to restore our place in the world, ensure security at home and abroad, and reestablish the United States as the world's economic leader.
This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about the issues. And it's also a great opportunity for you to share Barack's message of change with your friends, family, and neighbors by attending a Debate Watch Party.
Watch the debate with friends and supporters, and talk about how you can get involved in this movement.
I recorded a brief message about these parties. Please take a moment to watch the video and sign up to attend a Debate Watch Party in your community. Many Americans are still learning about Barack and this movement for change.
They don't know about his plan to restore the middle class, cut taxes for 95 percent of American families, provide health care for every American, achieve energy independence, improve our schools, and responsibly end the war in Iraq.
Many people also don't know that John McCain has voted with George Bush more than 90 percent of the time -- including to continue Bush's failed Iraq policies, not investigating the government response to Katrina, not supporting children's health care, not supporting college benefits for returning veterans, and passing tax cuts for the rich at the expense of the middle class.
This debate is a chance for Americans to hear directly from Barack. And with just a few weeks left before Election Day, it's more important than ever that we bring people together and talk about the issues that matter in our communities.
I hope you'll watch my short message and sign up to attend a Debate Watch Party:

Thank you for all that you're doing,
Michelle
As you can see, a lot of plans have been made for this debate. Obama plans it would seem to lay out his entire campaign (ad nauseam if you ask me).
And what about this changing in the polls. I just don't see how anyone can trust Obama. I've been vaguely sick at my stomach all day just thinking about an Obama Presidency because the voting public is so easily scammed.

Yeah, Baby!
Everyone is a buzz with this astounding speech--how it soared and how Palin cut to the quick with a nibbleness not seen for quite a while. I'm psyched.
Here's an issue no one is touching on and I'm not sure how to approach it exactly. Has anyone noticed how John McCain is enbracing Palin and her family. Not the uneasy peace of some tickets. Carl Cameron says McCain got a little misty when he was shaking hands with Palin's family out on the tarmac when he came to Bristol and her husband to be--McCain took a little more time to give them what seemed to be a little extra pat and encouragement. And then there was Cindy McCain holding little Trig when Sarah began her speech.
More later. . .

VP Buzz Sarah Palin
The official announcement comes at noon Eastern time. Rumor has it that Sarah Palin is still in Alaska though. And no one can find Tom Ridge (sigh--he's boring).
UPDATE:
It's official:
from the McCain Site:
U.S. Senator John McCain today announced that he has selected Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate and to serve as his vice president.
Governor Palin is a tough executive who has demonstrated during her time in office that she is ready to be president. She has brought Republicans and Democrats together within her Administration and has a record of delivering on the change and reform that we need in Washington.
Governor Palin has challenged the influence of the big oil companies while fighting for the development of new energy resources. She leads a state that matters to every one of us – Alaska has significant energy resources and she has been a leader in the fight to make America energy independent.
In Alaska, Governor Palin challenged a corrupt system and passed a landmark ethics reform bill. She has actually used her veto and cut budgetary spending. She put a stop to the “bridge to nowhere” that would have cost taxpayers $400 million dollars.
As the head of Alaska’s National Guard and as the mother of a soldier herself, Governor Palin understands what it takes to lead our nation and she understands the importance of supporting our troops.
Governor Palin has the record of reform and bipartisanship that others can only speak of. Her experience in shaking up the status quo is exactly what is needed in Washington today.

Jimmy Carter on John McCain
"explaining how he was bewildered to see him during a conversation earlier this month with pastor and author Rick Warren at the Saddlebrook Church in Lake Forest, Calif. Carter said that whether the question was about religion, domestic or foreign affairs, every answer came back to his five-and-a-half years as a POW."John McCain was able to weave in his experience in a Vietnam prison camp, no matter what the question was," said Carter, a 7-year Naval officer who served aboard submarines. It's much better than talking about how he's changed his total character between being a senator, a kind of a maverick at the time, and his acquiescence in the last few months with every kind of lobbyist pressure that the right wing Republicans have presented to him."

James Dobson, McCain, Obama and the Supreme Court
I think Dobson ought to think about the SCOTUS and who gets to pick the next new member---Obama or McCain--hmmmmm.
Does Dobson really want the pro-choice candidate who terrifies him to be the one who gets to pick the next SCOTUS member????? Dobson get off your pompous high horse and vote for the closest thing we have this election year to a Republican. And Bob Barr doesn't count!!!!!!!

This is how I feel about the Obamamessiah

This primary cycle plus other stress-ers (death in the family and expensive dental work about to be done) have left me feeling like the cat. I'm also thinking about burying guns and ammo in the backyard--not for a shooting spree but because under the Obamamessiah I am sure that guns and ammo will soon be illegal. Yes, I am clinging to my guns and God, but not in a bad way.
Every Conservative now needs to shut the hell up on how lousy McCain is and start working to get him elected instead of Obamamessiah. Frankly, I could care less what color Obama is--it's his core Marxist beliefs that frighten me. Change--the change he stands for turns my stomach.
Wake-up everybody. Four years under Obamamessiah and we won't recognize this country.

Courage and Patriotism--What Does it Mean
I thought the video of Marcus Luttrell was very powerful in context with what I had been reading and struggling with in my own head about Courage and Patriotism and whether John McCain doesn't really understand the nature of the Vietnam War because he was in a Prison camp for 5 years and missed the worst of the war (Well, that's what his fellow Democrat Senators that also served seem to think). I think that there is just a difference between how liberals and conservatives view courage and patriotism. It's not an easy thing to grasp and I'm sure I will get blasted if I say that conservatives better understand what the founding fathers understood about dying for their country--dying for a cause greater than themselves. For liberals patriotism and courage have been tainted by the 1960s, Vietnam, and Watergate even. Somewhere after "The Tet Offensive" and "The Summer of Love" the world changed and patriotism wasn't cool anymore--the United States become the establishment, the evil empire, that had to be sullied in some way--put in its place--and the military become just a disgraceful arm of that evil empire that did nothing but bad things (why look at all the movies Hollywood has made about the heinous acts of the armed forces).
Update:
At some point I realized that I really left this unfinished--I still working on what the difference is---a start is that Liberals and Conservatives view the Vietnam War through different eyes. Liberals feel we got out of an unwinnable war. Conservatives believe that we left our allies in the lurch--to be slaughtered after promising that we wouldn't (the war was winnable--Tet had proven that).

McCain sings Streisand
you have to be able to laugh at yourself sometime.
Food for Thought
How about people going and voting for a republic rather than the Marxist State that dear Barack is promising. The one Michelle Obama is always promising where Barack won't let us just sit around "that we have to compromise and sacrifice for one another in order to get things done" and "Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your division. That you come out of your isolation. That you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual; uninvolved, uninformed. And that most important part "I am married to the only person in this race who has a chance of healing this nation."
Frankly with all the things I am hearing this morning added to what I already know--I don't want "Barry" healing anything of mine. Obama is just another politician with better spin maybe but still just a politician who in this case wants to sell you Marxism and call it Democracy. If you think Bush was a big government spender you ain't seen nothing yet.
People have to get out there and inspire others to vote for McCain (THAT'S RIGHT Ann Coulter) or we are going to have the worst president since Jimmy Carter.
