Los Angeles Animal Services: 'No Night Care for Animals in City Shelters'

This has got to be one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. The  head of Los Angeles Animal Services has decided to save money by doing away with the night shifts at the LA County Shelters. Yeah there will be some issues: dogs will be left unattended for 8 hours; a security company will have to be hired to guard the outside of the shelters (like that isn't going to cost just has much or more than the night shift; dogs are kenneled together but there won't be fights; injured animals can't be brought in for care till morning--too bad; and the kicker maybe that the person is charge of this looming fiasco makes over 200k a year. No wonder the state is going broke.
